Abstract
AFM has been used to observe a crystal surface in molecular scale. However sometime we want to see atomic configuration of the crystal surface during crystal growth in solution. Thanks to recent development of frequency-modulate AFM (FM-AFM), atomic resolution of crystal surface became possible, fig.1 [1]. This FM-AFM is successfully used for the atomic resolution of a crystal surface in solution but also for the direct observation of hydration structure over the crystal surface, fig.2.
